Noise at Work

Environoise Consulting Limited

Control of Noise at Work

The Control of Noise at Work Regulations were implemented in the UK in 2005 following introduction of the EU 'Physical Agents Directive. The Regulations replaced the 1989 Noise at Work Regulations.

Environoise Consulting provides a comprehensive service from assessment of the risk to which workers are subjected to the design and management of comprehensive noise control programmes.

Our experience ranges from small plastics manufacturing companies to large industral sites and power stations. Our reports include noise maps of internal noise levels.

We also assess hand arm and whole body vibration and are able to provide practicable ways to reduce exposure levels as required by the Control of vibration at Work Regulations.

Many consultancies can tell you which ear defenders to choose to protect from noise exposure. However the Control of Noise at Work Regulations require that noise levels are reduced where practicable so that ear protections should be regarded as something of a last resort. We at Environoise have substantial experience in the specification of noise control and can manage the implementation of it if needed.

We have completed assessments throught northwest England, the Midlands, London and Norhern Ireland and also on a whole fleet of ferry vessels operating in the Irish Sea, the North Sea and across the Bay of Biscay. The regulations covering ships is similar to those for land based industry and are detailed in the Code of Practice for Controlling risks due to Noise on Ships.
